Fleets within fleets

Hi Colin

I am trying to sort out our results for this year as our sailing
secretary has just resigned!

We have series racing every weekend and within those races are
different fleets. We have gold, silver and bronze fleet and youth
and ladies. We therefore have weekends when the series races need
gold, silver and bronze fleets, youth and ladies results
extrapolating out. I know that I can assign the fleet to
say 'gold'and then score by fleets but we have several members that
are in multiple fleets, i.e a female youth that is in the gold fleet
so she would get results in three separate series. Any ideas if
sailwave can handle it?

As it stands you would have to enter the competitors in each fleet and thus
enter the results N times, once for each fleet. Its something that is on
the todo list and something I would love to get done; its just finding the
time these days...

Actually, you could do it with the Sailwave Special Prize facility - which
essentially an extracted result facility but just showing the winner.

Try this.

Create the series without any fleets and score it. These are the overall
results.

Create a special Prize called Gold and add the competitors into that prize
that are eligible, ticking the box that gets Sailwave to pick the winner for
you.

Rescore and publish ticking the box that says to display a list of special
prizes.

If that looks OK, repeat for the other extracted result categories.

Its not ideal but would work as an interim.

NB: There is a difference between scoring fleets separately and getting
extracted fleet results from overall results - not a big difference but some
place changing does/can happen... SIs are often ambiguous about how they
want the fleet results calculated.
