Thanks to all who indicated that Sailwave could handle a large
flighted event (I never doubted it could!).
However, I've got another question...
Our results sheets have the boats recorded in raw finish order, with
the flights intermingled - the top of one start will often overtake
the back markers in the previous start.
This is fine when entering results - Sailwave automatically allocates
the boat to the correct flight.
However, how do we insert a boat once the results have been entered?
For example a boat was missed by the recorders, but the sailor is
able to tell us he was before another boat, which was not in his
start.
How is it possible to insert this boat in the correct position? I
know about rearranging recorded places, but this just gives the place
within the start.
I can see a manual method of checking the paper sheet, finding where
to slot the boat in, and then working out the nearest boat in his
start - but this is laborious. Is there a neat way to do this?
Thanks,
James
Hi James
Have a look at the Rearrange Recorded Places… tool.
This shows the positions in ‘raw finish order’ and you can move boats up & down

No With flights its showing per start not per race.
This is a similar problem to the one i reported after the topper worlds where with flights you can’t get to see the “raw finishing order” any more.
Viewings ->Finishes shows them grouped by flight color and reorder Recorded places groups by start.
So right now there is no easy way without working out where the person should be in their start.
If you don’t use flights its ok, but to re-flight you need to use flights.
I thinkw we need an option in Rearrange Recorded Places to show Race or Start
And another viewing option to show raw finish places.

Hi James
Don’t understand why yours does not work
I have tried it on my version 1.95b11 using some old Topper sample data & the re-arrange places window shows the ‘raw finishes’
See attached picture
I understand your problem when using the Viewing options but this process in the Tools menu is different
Let me know what you think

That is showing start1 so doesnt give you the muddled order between start 1 & start 2 of the same race.

Sorry James/John - brain not working
As a workaround (until the issue is resolved) try playing with ‘Export Series Results’ into a spreadsheet, correcting the figures & then importing the race results back into SW
If it works, it may be quicker than changing everything manually in SW, especially for large fleet events

We coped at the toppers without this. I think we ended up without too many issues in that area. Also noting on the results where the start of the 2nd/3rd/4th starts is helps make it easier to work out issues later. So we just moved people within races.
It can be done it just means working out where they should be if the people around them are in a different start.
I think changing sailwave in the long run would be good but from a selfish point of view i have until next year before worrying about big events again with these problems.
That did just remind me of another issue that i will email seperately though.
