Hi Colin
I think this has always been a problem for ‘round robin’ racing
When there are 4 fleets/flights & eg red starts with yellow & blue starts with white the results appear as Y 1, R 2, R 3, Y 4 etc etc
When sorting by the race, the sorting criteria will always sort on the alpha character then the number.
This produces a ‘race result’ in SW in the order of B finishes, R finishes, W finishes and finally Y finishes
When the whole issue of flights was added to SW, you based it on Appendix LE AddC and it was only later that round robin racing was raised as a problem
If racing was AddC then the results would come out correctly in ‘race order’
There is a problem that sometimes SW flights scoring (based on AddC) is being used for Round Robin when the two types of racing have significant differences re scoring
I had a look at exporting to a spreadsheet & sorting the data but it is a real pain
Having run round robin races with Toppers, I have never had a problem with not having the results in start order
If there are queries, they are usually resolved fairly quickly by looking at the manual results sheets from the committee boat
In an ideal world however, it would be great if you could provide the solution that James & others have asked for but not sure how difficult it would be, suspect it could be quite involved
Hope this helps
Regards
Ralph

Subject: Re: [sailwave] Flighted series - how to print individual start results?
James, can you send me your file please - colin@sailwave.com - and detail your problems, thanks. Sailwave should be able to cope as it has been used for large flighted events - but I may well have broken it in the meantime…

I'm continuing my trials with the hope of using Sailwave for the major
Optimist events, but am having fundamental problems with publishing.
My current trials reveal that selecting "Individual Race" on the
publishing has two problems:
1. Results are not printed in the correct order (even if I sort the
results by the appropriate race in Sailwave first).
2. It is not possible to split out the starts for the race.
Point 2 is is essential, as it is how the competitors perceive the race -
i.e. "Where did I come in the race (my start), and are the results
correct?".
I'm really keen to use Sailwave for the events, but am currently
struggling to see how to make it work!
I'm happy to submit my .blw file, so others can see how I've (probably
incorrectly) set the series up.
