I just finished scoring 7 races in a 166 boat fleet using Sailwave and had some trouble with the Sail Number Wizard. The sail numbers were 3, 4 and 5 digit numbers and I thought that by using the last three digit only I could resolve the discrepancies quickly, but found that there were some times when the all of the sail numbers did not show up in the ambiguity list. I went to full numbers but still had what seemed to be problems After entering the first few digits on a few sail numbers the ambiguity list went away. I found that if I entered the complete number to get a unique match it worked fine. Any way to make a long story short, This morning I went back to see if I could find the problem, and did. An "s" seems to be initialized in the ambiguity field, which limits what shows up in the ambiguity list. When I remove the "s" everything works fine. How do I get the "s" out permanently. I was using 1.44 Beta 3.

Hi Dave,
Sailwave will initialise the ambiguity string to the value it was set
to last. The implication is that at some stage it was accidently set
to "s". However, are you saying that it always gets set to "s" even
after clearing ti and entering more results...?

Hi Colon,
You have it correct. At some stage I inadvertently enetered a s and didn’t
realize it. Later when I found that the s was in the field I cleared it
and found that everything worked fine. Unfortunately I never saved the results
after clearing the s because the series had already been finalized and I
didn’t wantt to alter it. therefore every time I opened Sailwave the s reappeared
in the ambiguity field no matter what series I opened. Your note prompted
me to use the sail number wizard with the s cleared and then save the series.
The problem is solved
