FTP service being declined by web host.

Sailwave provides with a useful feature to publish results via FTP

Our web host has now declined to service any kind of FTP requests - same in work, all file transfers via FTP are banned.

(They say due to the need to increase security)

Is there a new protocol that we could use and that eventually may become part of SailWave ? It is a bit of a pain to have to upload files “manually” to the web site.

Just to clarify - there is no issue with FTP on Sailwave , it is just that the web host we are dealing with has it turned off - and I suspect I am not alone , hence I thought I ask.

You could use the Sailwave results folder and have your website point to that folder.

There are many solutions. You can publish to a file on your PC and then use core FTP lite to transfer it to your web server. Core FTP lite supports a wide range of protocols. You can use publish to an application which can even be a batch file and fully automated the upload with any protocol.

If you can give some indication of the protocol you wish to use. I’ll be glad to advise further.

They want you to move to sftp, which is a better developed file transfer system

I’m hoping that the SW team will pick this up soonish.

Has anyone tried / setup the option of publishing to an application

  • in this case one which does sftp to the host?

Hi all contributing to this thread,

The original poster did not say if SFTP was acceptable to his web

host or his work place.

Transfer by SCP / SFTP using an external batch file has been

discussed on the SUG previously and one way has been documented at

This is an automatic process that just uses the publish to an

application destination when publishing.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Huw
