Funny file save

Here’s an odd behaviour: I click on an existing SW file.

Says: Version: 2.38.02
Installed: Unknown
Date: September 12, 2025
Time: 9:36:26 PM
File does not exist: C:\dropbox\RVAN Regattas\Big Boat Racing\Fraser River\Fraser River 2025.blw

File is there. I just clicked on it.

Then I open the file in Notepad or Brackets or some other text editor. Save it. Then double-click. SW opens just fine.

Some version issue?

Hi John,

This is not a Sailwave version issue, but a Dropbox issue that can be fixed by modifying the Dropbox settings you have specified for Dropbox
It will be the same with all versions of Sailwave.

You can configure Dropbox on a directory basis to only store files in the Cloud and fetch them when you need them or you can configure Dropbox to sync the files between devices.

You would appear to have Dropbox configured not to sync with your local directory. So when Sailwave goes to open it - it is not there.
Change your Dropbox settings for this directory, and it will be fine.

Let me know if you need any help

Regards

Jon

Hi Jon,

It’s fine. We’ve been having tussles with DB for a couple of months. Not sure what changed, but something. I’ll check a few settings, but saving the file in Notepad does the trick, so while it’s a bit scary (where did my files go??) it’s an easy fix.

Thanks as always,
