FW: [sailwave] Conversion from CHS/IRC to PY

Hi Tim,

the IR* scheme is based on metrics where as PY is based on mean performance so there is no way to do a meaningful conversion. However both schemes are linear WRT calculating corrected times so you could compute a rule of thumb - but it would only be good enough for an initial club value. It’d also be a good idea to get a copy of YR2 from the RYA to see how to adjust PY values for different keel configurations etc.

I do this to get PY values for cats by using the ISAF SCHRS values but only as a last resort.

Regards,

Colin

Subject: [sailwave] Conversion from CHS/IRC to PY

Does Sailwave have any facility to do an easy conversion by formula from IRC
ratings to PY, to permit IRC yachts to race in a mixed fleet?

Does anyone have a formula for this?

Thanks, from Dabchicks Sailing Club, West Mersea, Essex.
