Getting an "application failed to initialize properly (0xc000007b)" error

I'm getting the error listed in the subject line with all of the version 2 builds so far. Previous versions have always worked fine. Microsoft and Google offer nothing useful that I can find about this. I am running XP Professional sp3. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as our racing season is fast approaching!

can you try this install p[lease - it’s the latest
Sailwave with Lua not compiled into it.

Please let me know if it works OK…

I installed the test version without difficulty, but still get the same error. Frustrating...

Everything else seems fine on my computer, so I don't think I've got a virus/worm (conflicker did get onto our network, but I think we've finally cleaned it out).

Any other thoughts?

Peter

I have SW2 build 3 on my PC Windows XP SP3 with no problem. Probably doesn't help much though.
btw I have only just rebuilt my system, and had to start again with XP 3 a couple of times as I had problems getting a downloaded print driver to work properly

FYI, I ran Dependency Walker on the test sailwave install. It indicates that DWMAPI.DLL is missing. As far as I can tell from the Microsoft site, this is not an XP dll. Does this mean anything to anybody?

It seems it's a Vista dll. Found this:

dwmapi.dll is a Windows Vista DLL, you can only use DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea on Vista. So it seems Colin might be using DwmExtendFrameIntoClientArea, which is not legal on XP.

Not knowingly - I’ll investigate - don’t worry -
we’ll get it working…

PS: I only have XP SP2 and Windows online upgrade refuses to offer it
for upgrade…? How does one go about getting it…?

If anybody has a spare windows 98 CD could they let me know - be useful
to try and get it working with win98 again. I have win2000, XP SP2 and
Vista.

I’ve upgraded to SP3 and Sailwave is OK here but
I’m on IE8. Reading the web it’s definitely IE7 that is the cause but
I dont have a solution yet - short term you could upgrade to IE8.

Colin et al,

FYI – I am running Sailwave 2b3 under Windows XP with SP3
and IE7 (version7.o.5730.11) and have not seen this problem. But I have
installed other Microsoft apps like Office 2007 with SP3, SQL Server 2005 with
SP2, .NET 2.0 with SP1 & .NET 3.0 with SP1 and I am fully up to date with
the latest security patches for Windows XP and the aforementioned Microsoft
apps.

Kind regards,

Huw

My old laptop is working on XP SP3 and IE 7, and SW 2.03 is working properly. IE doesn’t and closes with a message showing a missing DLL…

I’ve upgraded to SP3 and Sailwave is OK here but I’m on IE8. Reading the web it’s definitely IE7 that is the cause but I dont have a solution yet - short term you could upgrade to IE8.

I tried Sailwave on an older desktop running XP SP3 and IE 7 and it works for me, as well. There must be something odd about my laptop, although no other application seems affected.

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions!

FYI, I did some additional research into this problem. Apparently, this error is caused by a part of the Symantec Endpoint Protection program, probably the Proactive Threat Detection. I uninstalled my old version (11.02) and installed the newer version (11.04) without that module and now everything works fine!
