Firstly thanks to Jon for supporting Sailwave so well recently.
A few months ago I added a filter to the google ads to filter out the “download now” ones - I agree they are designed to make ppl click. Revenue dropped to effectively 0. £1.97 in March so far for example
Previously it was about £30/month (== the cost of the Sailwave server ish) . Given I really hate those ads myself because they are designed to confuse we’ve made the decision to remove google ads completely. Can’t live with knowingly misleading users - I suppose if I hadn’t done the experiment I wouldn’t have known but i did…
We’ve also removed the overt requests for donations because again they are 1 or 2 a year now. It’s left as a casual mention on the home page that some users have donated (and thanks).
The overall reasoning is that a significant part of the site using ads and requests for donation probably gives the impression of income - which is false.
I’ve moved to the latest wordpress theme.

And added a “The deal” text. Which is how it all used to work. Free software for a mention of Sailwave as a support/sponsor on event/club sites
WRT dev - sometimes I get the urge to do something but Jon ‘has’ the code, so we need to find out a way of sharing, maybe on github or something. Esp since I’m interested more in the publishing aspects and javascript these days…
Cheers,

Thanks Colin,
I spoke of and used sailwave at our regatta last weekend. Most were verbally impressed with the product.
Cheers
