Hi: Thanks Mike for pointing me to the Help files. I've set up a
regatta and scored it successfully and it is wonderfully simple - but
have some more questions.
I seem to be missing something. I set up three fleets A, B, and
Cruising. I chose 1200, 1205, and 1210 start times for the three
fleets. When using the Sail No. Wizard it defaults to Place or Code
but doesn't remember that I'm entering times. I think you can default
this to time somewhere in the program but don't know where.
Next problem, which may result from this, is that the start time isn't
learned. E.g. the B fleet starts at 1205 and I would expect that the
program would set my start time automatically after I enter the sail
number in the Wizard and it is a boat in the B fleet. Similarly with
the Cruising fleet the start time of 1210 should automatically appear
with a Cruising fleet sail number. Then all one has to do is enter the
finish time. At the moment I have to enter the start time as well.
So, am I missing something in the setup somewhere? I don't know if
using elapsed time would help but one would have to do the math before
entering the time. This sounds like too much work!
Any help please?
Thanks, Donald
Donald,
You need to set in the Race information that you are using finishing times ( default is place, but other two options are finish time & elapsed time). probably easiest pace to do this is in the Sail Number wizard on its first page by clicking edit race and you then ‘effectively’ set-up the start sequence and which competitors start on each start. If you need more of a pointer just ask.
The other way is to right click at the head of the race column and you get to the same interface for editing the race information.
Kind regards,
Huw

Subject: [sailwave] Handicap scoring
Hi: Thanks Mike for pointing me to the Help files. I’ve set up a
regatta and scored it successfully and it is wonderfully simple - but

Next problem, which may result from this, is that the start time isn’t
learned. E.g. the B fleet starts at 1205 and I would expect that the

Hi Donald.
Right click on R1 and select "edit race" edit your starts, eg. start
1 is A, start 2 is B etc.
Under the big white box, in "finishes will be recorded as"
select "finish time" and underneath enter your starttime for the
specific group.
Then your problem should be solved, when sailwave calculate the
elapsed time automatic, when these two information is typed.

Thanks Steen and Huw. It works, it works! I knew Colin would provide
the ability to set start times for each fleet. But it does take a bit
of thought to set it up.
Thanks again, Donald
