Handicapping --- again

I keep coming back to this, sorry to be a hassle but I just don't get it. I guess I've been asking the wrong question.

My club races a consistency series. New skippers start the series with a handicap of 1. After three races they are afforded a handicap based on their placings within those races.

The handicap is a decimal fraction which is applied to elapsed time to determine corrected time. eg CT=ETx.995

The top placings boats have points added to their handicap e.g. 1st gets .5 added. The slowest boats get points subtracted.

The idea is to ensure that, providing you sail consistently, everyone eventually has a chance of winning a race - regardless of how fast their boat is.

Club championships and Regattas are sailed on a standard fixed handicap and Sailwave looks extremely promising for those. Our data entry people are not prepared to move to a new package just for those races, the consistency series is their priority.

Is there a way to automate the consistency series (as above) within Sailwave? Our existing software does manage this -barely- but the method is fraught with errors and can (read.. did!)result in the entire series being corrupted. The reason we are looking for an alternative.

I hope you can help

AFAIK, ‘no’. You can manually adjust handicaps as the series progresses, but nothing ‘automatic’.
