Hi all,
I'm sure we're not alone in the situation at our club, where we've
got a pool of Race Officers, who only cover one or two races a year.
I'm keen to use Sailwave for our results system, as it makes
everything so much easier!
However, where we've got a series running over several weekends, I'm
concerned that the RO on, say, the 3rd weekend could mess up all the
previous results for the series.
Has anyone got a way of working around this?
I'm considering setting up a system whereby the series file is
backed up separately after each race (I'm a programmer by
profession, so can put this together fairly easily), but am
interested to know if anyone else has got an elegant solution to
this.
On a similar topic, is there any way of restricting ROs access to
certain features of Sailwave, to avoid them messing up settings?
Thanks,
James
Our club is in exactly the same position and its one of the features I'd like to see (
sorry for the extra work Colin :))
ideally there should be an admin who sets the series up and can password protect the
series details and each race. The OOD can then only enter info the races they are
involved in.
At present I take a copy away from the club to use for website updates so there is a
second master but it would be overwritten when I connect the 2 machines.
I post a copy of the sailwave file to the club website to allow members to publish their
own info based upon the race results and would want any protect feature to still allow
them to do that. it also encourages more members to use Sailwave and hence makes
my task easier trying to teach OD's about it on the day.

It's on the todo list.
