Helms using different boats

I'm using Sailwave to score for a small club. Some of our members sail
different boats though a series, e.g. they sail a Vareo if on their
own, but a RS 400 if their wife is sailing. I think it's sensible to
credit the helm with the points, but I haven't found an elegant way to
handle this in Sailwave. At the moment I have them in the competitor
list twice, once with their alternate boat, and once with both boats
listed, but a PY for the main boat. I enter the elapsed times,
choosing the correct PY figure, then I score the series and publish
the individual race table. Then I go back and edit the race to enter
places giving the place credit to the entry with both boats listed,
and then publich the series summary.

I'd be grateful of any suggestions to improve this process.

Thanks
Tony

Tony,

Just have the competitor in the file with their main boat. Then for the race with the alternate boat do the following:

double click the results cell for the competitor for the race in question

  • click the Rating tab
  • type in the rating for the boat being sailed today (do not put a tick in the box below where you enter the rating
I usually add something in the Notes filed as well saying which races wee sailed in the alternate boat, e.g. Vareo in R1, R5, R9. I usually find I am having to do this for competitors who change Laser rigs according to the wind strength.

Kind regards,

Huw
