What I would love to do is add facilities to update the rating library (it
would become N files) from the appropriate web sites at the push of a
button. It's technically very easy using the WININET Windows API (an
evenings work perhaps), but would require the cooperation of
USSA/RYA/ISAF/VYC etc to supply the files in a useful format - CSV for
example. I suppose the HTML could be parsed but I notice that USSA for
example have inconsistent annotations which would break any attempt at
parsing it automatically.

Barb,
If you can get to the US Sailing Yardstick pages (I can't I am not a US
Sailing member), you should be able to cut the information from your web
browser into a Spreadsheet. Then set the information up into the order that
SailWave requires it in its RATING.TXT file the export the file in CSV
format. You might have a bit more processing with a text editor to get the
" (double quotes) that SailWave surround each element in the data string.
This should be a lot quicker and less prone to error than typing everything
in.
I did the above procedure to input the RYA Portsmouth Yardstick values
earlier this year in to SailWave.
Hope this helps. If you think I can help further contact me.

Subject: [sailwave] help: import the complete USSA PN database
I've just stumbled across Sailwave and fallen in love with it. At Colin's
suggestion I am consulting the user group community for some initial
assistance.
Has any USA users already set up or figured out a way to import all the USSA
PN data into Sailwave? Seems I would be here for the next 10 years trying
to enter all the data and verify that my data entry is accurate.
I'm trying to figure out how to basically do an initial "load" so that the
program is completely set up and ready to be used by any data entry person
we have helping us. I can't rely on them to create entries as needed as
they go because they won't have that kind of knowledge, nor should their
data entry be trusted.
Thanks folks,
Barb Short
