Help setting up a new series

I am having problems! I would be grateful if someone could point out where i have gone wrong.

I had to completely reformat my harddrive so am starting from scratch.

I imported a series (2 races so far) from a csv file. When I tried to score the series, all the PY numbers were dumped, but I couldn't the classes when I edited the competitors. For some reason when editing the competitor all I got listed were the classes in the csv file. I cannot fathom why it won't read the ratings file. I did download Huw's to the correct folder.

I did check I have the ratings file called under global options, and the scoring system is set to RYA Portsmouth with Auto Set

I had started by using last year's file and deleting all the competitors, so I thought I would try again by starting a brand new series and adding all the data manually. However I still cannot seem to access the ratings file when adding a new competitor.

I am sure I have missed something.

I am running Windows 7, and I have attached my blw file

Hi Ian,

I have taken a look at the Sailwave .BLW and after a little bit of

work scored the file. The things I found with regard to the rating
file I am using, which is the one I created on 3rd March 2013 and
was corrected by Jon to remove hidden characters:

  • There is no RS100 in the rating file; there are RS 100 8.4 and

    RS 100 10.2

  • the spelling in your file of Musto Skiff is incorrect as Mistd

    Skiff!

  • a blank class field for Paul & Caroline Fisk
With auto set ratings checked on the ratings tab, the ratings were
    populated.

I set the class as a test for Paul & Caroline Fisk to RS 400 and
for the RS 100 to RS 100 8.2

I have attached by working version of your .BLW file and the version
of the rating file I am using.

FYI - my environments Microsoft Vista with all latest patches,
Sailwave 2.13.4 (which is a test version from Jon at the moment) and
the rating file is custom location.

I have noticed in the recent versions of Sailwave the disappearance
of the wave icon beside the class box which used to if clicked throw
up a listing of the entries in the rating file.

    Hope this might be helpful.

    Kind regards,

    Huw

Thanks Huw,
I couldn’t understand why Sailwave didn’t call up the ratings
directly. I had to edit each and every competitor, and then couldn’t
find some, e.g. LASER. Yes I had noticed the Mistd Skiff!! RRS
applied there

I'll have another play using the ratings file attached.
