Further to my earlier message, and after pottering around Sailwave for an hour or so, I think I've cracked it.
1) the points scored for the series do not tally with the positions.........Resolved by ensuring that when Publishing Series Summary the 'Include DNC results' box is checked
.
2) Boats which do not enter for a particular race in the series seem to be scored DNC by Sailwave by default (these are shown by ' - ' on the web page having been changed by me from DNC using 'Find/Replace all' when published in Excel)..............Also resolved by ensuring that when Publishing Series Summary the 'Include DNC results' box is checked
3) Does Sailwave automatically account for 'Races to Count' and how can I view this?..............Yes, provided you set up the discard profile correctly, in my case 0,0,0,0,0,1,2,3,4,5
4) Fleet headers state 'Discards: 1', I have a feeling that this isn't correct!..........Also resolved by ensuring that when Publishing Series Summary the 'Include DNC results' box is checked and the discard profile is set up correctly
As a new user I would still welcome any comments (just in case I haven't cracked it). I have updated our website page since my earlier message and this may be viewed at www.cmyc.co.uk/results/autumnleaf.htm

Keith

Hi Keith,
1) the points scored for the series do not tally with the
positions.........Resolved by ensuring that when Publishing Series Summary
the 'Include DNC results' box is checked<
I'm not sure I follow - the 'Include DNC' option is just a publishing
filter - it doesn't affect the scoring... Can you be more specific about
what you mean?

If at least one boat in a fleet sails in a race, Sailwave will assume DNC
for all other competitors in that fleet/race. I would say that is correct -
any boat entered in a series needs a result of some sort for every race, but
perhaps I have misinterpreted you. If some competitors are not entered in
the series you can mark them as 'excluded' by double-clicking the tick in
the first column. There are then options to filter excluded competitors fro
the screen view if required.
4) Fleet headers state 'Discards: 1', I have a feeling that this isn't
correct!..........Also resolved by ensuring that when Publishing Series

set up correctly<
This is a function of the discard profile only.
Once you've set up the scoring system for one club series, it's then
straight-forward to use file+saveas to create another.
Note that in the latest RRS 2001-2004 Appendix A it is not optional to score
DNC as the number of boats that came to the start line + 1 in a "long"
series - it's mandatory unless your SIs say otherwise.

this sorted the problem. Originally Sailwave stated 'Discards: 1' in the
Heading, now I have corrected it to 4; originally Sailwave scored DNC at its
default value, now changed to accord with our club system.>
