HighlightWins3v3 Odd Behaviour

Hello SUG Members,

I’m thinking of using the HighlightWins3v3 effect for our end of season results which is scored with both a handicap and scratch rating, merged from all our Saturday series races. When I tried this on my test series one particular race, 4 from the summer series in the handicap fleet, had all the boats from 8th place downwards, which have a DNC score of 15, highlighted in Bronze as if they were scored in 3rd place.

Any thoughts on what has caused this would be appreciated.

I use a number of Jon’s effects to show a boats rating as it changes during the series, change summary table caption text, table column header text, remove unused columns (for the scratch fleet tables). All JS files and the series BLW & HTM output file are attached.

Thanks and regards,

Julian.

Hi Julian,

The solution is the order of the effects

If you do this, then it will work perfectly as you expect

The effect works by highlighting rank. It doesn’t use the points; it uses their ranking in the race. In that case, in R4 you only had two finishers, so the non-finishers were actually third in the race, and they were all equal third. The HightlightWins3v3 contains code to ignore the DNC but by adding the RatingsShow there is additional info in the cell which is stopping it detecting the DNC - I would be possible to modify the code but the easy thing is to put the RatingsShow-RCYC at the bottom of the list - to do this select the RatingsShow-RCYC and move it to the left and then move it back to the right, which will put it at the end.

Hope that helps

Jon

Hello Jon,

Perfect! I should have tried reordering the effects myself before troubling you.

Many thanks.

Julian.
