HNC Values in Summary Results table.

When results are calculated using the NHC Ratings

Is there a case to display the ending NHC value in the summary Results table or even the Starting and Ending Values??

Currently the starting values are displayed… to get the ending value you have to scroll down and get to the last race results table to determine then end value.?

Just a thought

John W

Morning John,

Yes you can do that already,

Just turn the column NewRating to view and publish to on.

It is then published in the summary table.

Hmmm… I am obviously very rusty at the start of this season… apologies should have realised…

But it has raised 2 questions :-

  1. Within the Column selection Options when you open a particular column, there is an Option called Format, where can i get info on how to use that please?

  2. Can i ask you to visit this link please http://glandoreyc.com/racingresults/2018/athome.htm

Scroll down to the Dragon HC tables that describe the individual race results.

Note the last boat in June 2nd -1 Race Sail no 161 is DNF but their Rating change, and went lower, why is this?

Then move to the second race on the same day and the same boat, the starting and new rating are the same which make sense, assuming there is a good reason for the change in the 1st race on that day.

Now look at a different competitor in the same 2 races… Sail number 110 came 1st in the 1st race and the new rating changes to 924 make sense i think… then look at the next race where the same competitor is RET and strangely the initial rating changes, but the new rating stays the same, which is a different treatment to the previous case of 161

I have looked for info on the RYC algorithm for this handicap and i cannot find anything…

Thanks John W

Hi John,

There is a tool tip which should help see below

image.png

NewRating is a competitor field and applies to the competitor - not to a specific race.

That is it is the new rating for the next race Not the rating after an individual race unless of course, it is the last race of the series so far.

The best way to see Ratings is to press F6 then R and you see all the ratings - if you publish now you will print the ratings for all races and how they have change.

Perhaps NewRating shouldn’t print in the individual races.

You need to remember this field belongs to the competitor and not a race.

There is a link on the home page of the Sailwave web site for details of the NHC

Jon,

Thanks again.

I did not get the tool tip perhaps i did not wait long enough or my cursor was not positioned within the window correctly.

I think i will remove the New Rating col as within the individual races it will only cause confusion within some of the sailors in the club.

thx

John
