How can i set up progressive BCH and CHC in Sailwave?

How can I set up progressive BCH (back calculated handicap) and CHC (computed hanicap calculation)in Sailwave?
Also how to set the “mark boat” for the BCH number?

Hi Greg

I don’t understand you mean by progressive back corrected handicap
Back corrected handicap is the handicap that a boat would have needed to win a race and is always relative to the winner

Sailwave has 2 progressive handicaps built in such as NHC and ECHO but also supports any calculation you wish to program in external mode

Thank you Jon for your reply. I was meaning
How do I

  1. get Sailwave to calculate a Back Calculated Handicap
  2. How do I get the software to pick up the BCH for say Race 1 and then carry it forward to be the AHC in race 2.

Cheers Greg

Hi, I am new to sailwave. I have figured out how get Sailwave to carry forward the Back Calculated Handicap (BCH) to be the AHC for the next race. It seems I had to click Tools … Assign personal handicaps … change the expression to prevbac … tick the box … use calculated race rating for successive races.

Then apply it to each race from R1 then rescore, then R2 then rescore and so forth until all the races have been done. I had to do this last step when changing handicaps or adding a new competitor.

Can anyone provide some assistance with using RYC NHC and the use of an excel spreadsheet.

Hi Greg,

You don’t say where you are but from you IP address it appears to be Queensland Australia. So I guess its coming up for 9pm there but if you would like to contact me (I’m in the UK) I could do a quick zoom call with you to explain it. Jon@sailwave.com or WhatsApp me on +44 7530 112233

Jon

Thank you so much Jon. I cannot do it tonight. However, I would love to go over it with you. I use Whatsapp as well. You are correct. I live on the Gold Coast in Queensland. My mobile number is 0499 208891. Is there a good time for you tomorrow. I am probably around 9 hours behind you. Would somewhere around 18:00 my time work for you tomorrow?
Oh … my email address is gregpieters1@hotmail.com

Maybe I could send you the file I built using sailwave. I started knowing nothing a few weeks ago, and I was successful this morning getting the results I was looking for.
I used real life data from a regatta I competed in. It appears my sailing club have trouble using Top Yacht and their results are questionable,
so I had a go with Sailwave. Now I need to upgrade my skills in Sailwave to achieve greater sophistication in scoring.

Cheers Greg.

So 6:00 PM your time would be 9:00 AM in the UK
That would be fine - I’ll email you a zoom invite

Jon

I’ve had quite a few questions on this, so I thought I would create a short YouTube Video

This can be found here

Sailwave NHC Internal - External and Custom

For a good, clear view, make sure you put your YouTube view in HD Mode

For those that would like to experiment with the SWDemo.xls template, used in the video it can be downloaded from
www.sailwave.com/download/plugins/SWDemo.xls

Any questions please let me know

Jon
