How do I score this regatta?

OK, I will have one more kick at the can to try to find an easy way. I
have a regatta to score with up to 11 different dinghy fleets, maybe
150+ boats. Included in the regatta is the Provincial 18 and under
Championship - scored across four fleets to give an overall 1st, 2nd,
and 3rd. Also in the regatta is the Provincial Laser Championship -
scored across three Laser fleets to give a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
The 18 and unders, and the Laser sailors are also eligible for
regatta prizes in their fleet.
What I plan to do is treat the regatta, the 18 and unders, and the
Laser Champs as three separate series and enter the relevant data
three times. At the end of day 1 I can get the regatta results
published then publish the other two later. This will keep people
happy in the short term.
I think I'm mad, or will be after the regatta.
Does anyone have a way of reducing my workload? Incidentally, the
regatta is next weekend!
Thanks, Donald

Donald,

I'm working on reducing your workload but it's not there yet. What I'm
doing is differentiating between the competitor list and fleet entries.
Entries in fleets will *point* at competitors in the competitor list so the
data only needs entering once but a competitor can appear in as many fleets
as you like. I've tried not to do this and keep Sailwave simple but I think
it's a necessary extension. I propose two tabs on the main view - one for
competitors and one for fleets... It means that you can create any number
of fleets using any combination of competitors and see all the results at
the same time after scoring. I also envisage some automatic methods of
picking fleet entries - i.e. 'all competitors aged less than 18' rather then
have to do it by hand. It'll mean that at last, Sailwave can be used to
model a whole regatta in one file.

There again, the mother-in-law is arriving on Wednesday for 3 weeks and I
*still* haven't finished the bathroom (I'd promised to get it finished for
her visit last year!) - and I'm under a definite threat of death if it's not
done in time this year... so don't hold your breath for something my next
week; sorry...

Regards,
Colin
