Sailwave is an excellent program for yardstick race scoring (we use VYC). However, I am trying to score the same racing by personal handicap as well and having difficulty.
Can someone please give me a rundown (v 1.92) on how to assign personal handicaps, score the series with those handicaps, and view / publish the handicap results.
Does the “use calculated rating for successive races” tick box mean ‘calculate one rating and use that rating for each future race’ or ‘calculate a new rating from each race and use the new rating for the next race’.
Any help will be much appreciated as I’d really like to dispense with using a spreadsheet system alongside Sailwave just to do personal handicap scoring.

I have a similar problem I was using the "race to win" option (I think
that's what it was called in my old version of sailwave. The principle
was that the first boat had their PY manually adjusted downwards so that
they only just beat the second boat. I then calculated the RTW PY and
entered that in a spreadsheet that avergaged that PY with the boats
normal PY and.... well it goes on.
However my issue is that the new 1.92 sailwave does not seem to have
the RTW option. Have you cracked this issue?
Many thanks
Chris

The PH tool is in its infancy and just populates the race rating field in
Edit+Result - something that you have only been able to do by hand until
now. When this field is populated, Sailwave uses this race rating instead
of the competitors 'defaul' rating from Edit+Competitor. The PH tool allows
you to populate this field for all competitors and for a specific race. The
tick box you refer to means, juse this race rating on the following races,
until Sailwave comes across a new value - i.e. if the PH is the same for
races 3, 4 and 5 you can tick the box and only enter a value in race 3 -
assuming a new value will be in race 6. The PH tools also allows you to
enter the formula to calaulate the PH values based on extsing data in the
series - the repetoire will gradually increase as the need arises. So
aftaer a race you can run the PH too so assign PHs for the next race. You
can publish PHs by choosing to view the series with personal handicaps in
the main table fields and then publish results.

Colin
