Import of Results

Hi, (Thanks for all the help so far)

I
have been experimenting with an android app LSC - Dinghy Race Control Witten by
Robbie at Lakeside Sailing Club. It now V29.0 deals with multiple fleets,
rolling starts including General recalls (Using start times in the format recommended
by Malcolm) eg 00:00:00, 00:00:05 so
they can be adjusted in Sailwave if necessary.

It now accepts competitor data in
the format exported from Sailwave program SWCList without manual intervention.

The only real problem with the results
import into Sailwave is that the OOD has to set the correct race number in the
series before starting the race so it can be successfully imported into the
correct race in Sailwave.

Is there any chance at a later
version of Sailwave

On import - Sailwave could create a new race if race number is
zero

or

possibly prompt for a race number on import or warn if race
already exists?

Hi Keith,

Yes I will look into that for a future version. I’m just about to go to Latvia to score the Techno 293 European championship so it will be a few weeks

Hi Jon,

Was just wondering if you had any chance to look at the import results process?

Another thought maybe and option to append races or merge in the same way that merging sailwave files works?

Hi Keith,

Sorry - I admit I forgot after coming back from the event.

And you remind me just as I’m off to Greece tonight to score the event out there.

I will try and remember but give me a reminder in a few weeks when I’m back. I have a new version which I’m working on which is Touch enabled and I’ll try and include it in that new version.

Just a very gentle nudge in case too much sun in Greece

Also, a wish list

  1. (The one that really matters)

Option to append results on
import without knowing the next race number.
(maybe an append option similar to that in “merge series” or append if
Race No is Zero)

  1. (Very Handy)

Sailwave to remember the Field
Mappings from last Import. (The Guess fields
is great and works well but to make our app as flexible as possible the results
include options for both times and positions and only need to import 1. (For The 2 clubs I belong to 1 uses ratings
& times the other positions!!!)

  1. (Nice to Have)

Option to import other race data
such as (Race Name, Date and Time) I have them available for import but nowhere
to put them.
