Importing an Excel ratings file??

Hi Colin,

Is there any easy way to import an excel file of portsmouth ratings. I have saved the file as a dos CSV file which saves the data as a comma delimited file but I seem to need the quotation marks around each field for sailwave to read the data.

Any thoughts on how to do this without manually entering the quotation marks in notepad.

Thanks

Hi Mark,

If you look on the Sailwave website, http://www.sailwave.com/, follow the ‘Downloads’ link and you will see a file called ‘pyisaf.zip’. Follow the download/installation instructions and you will have yourself a complete rating library (rating.txt) containing 2002 RYA PY numbers and ISAF SCHRS numbers for little or no effort!

Thanks again to Huw Pearce for the contribution.

Hope this helps.

Hi Mark,

I’ll relax the rules about having to surround fields with " ", which’ll make our lives a little easier. This will mean data without commas in it need not use " " but if it contains a comma you’ll need to use " " around the field. I’ll probably be able to do it tonight (GMT) because it’s a simple tweak.

Colin

I just looked at this and Sailwave can cope without the " marks as it stands… Can you send me the file you’re having trouble importing.

Colin
