scoring an entire summer sunday series. the problem in scoring is that we require each skipper to run the race committee one weekend. how can we keep this postition scoring neutral. i.e. one skipper may do his rc duty and because of weather or other cercumstances NO races were compleated. then another skipper could run upto 4 races. the issue is how to score each skipper. by default they get a DNC , this pentalizes the skipper who runs more races. my thought was to discard EACH skippers races while he was doing the committee. is there a way to only discard a particular race for each individual??
or any suggestions how other clubs have dealt with this situation.

Some clubs give half points or 2nd place points for RC. There is a code
is sailwave for it (ROD?) - probably you can set that to be discarded
automatically
We give average points of the races they have sailed. If the race is
cancelled (ie bad weather) it is cancelled and therefore they don't get
anything.
There is a code in Sailwave for doing this.

we tried giving a set point for doing the committee , the problem is not every skipper will run the same number of races. we had to scap this method last year because it favored the skipper who happen to get the best weather on his committee day. do you know how to automatically discard a certain code. i do not see this option in the code properties.

If you allocate the scoring code of OOD for each race sailed that day, this is an average score for that person’s sailing positions throughout the series, both before and after such duty days. In a long series, it can be expected that there should be some good days and bad days and OOD points would be in the middle.
I don’t think that there can be a perfect system to suit all conditions - SW’s OOD seems to fit the purpose and is widely used.
