Integrating Tracking Devices to Results

Hi,

I'm interested to know if anyone has experience integrating tracking device output with Sailwave.

For a youth regatta next month, and again for a major international event next year, I would like to generate the first provisional results (and mark rounding sequences) directly from on-boat tracking devices. These will likely be supplied from TracTrac, whom I believe have a SOAP interface for polling mark rounding and finish tables.

Has anyone any experience of doing this?

Thanks,

Ian.

Hi Ian,

As it happens I'm working on some software which could do that right now with a little modification. The original intention of the program was to give sailwave support for Grand Prix finishes. The program reads all the entries from the sailwave file and has its own wizard for entering the sail numbers, rather similar to the sailwave wizard but the difference is it keeps track of the number of laps. The results (on a Race basis) are updated in real time as the boats are entered so this could be a feed from tractrac. The results are then inserted into the sailwave file for further processing. As I was writing it I thought it might be handy for your sort of application. If you would like to discuss it further please let me know.

I shall be at the Youth Nationals at Hayling Island next month. Which Youth event are you talking about?

Jon,

Thanks indeed. I’ll contact you directly to discuss. The events in question are the Irish Youth Nationals in Dublin Bay next month, and the Youth Worlds 2012, again in Dublin Bay. Your software sounds very interesting indeed.

Ian.
