I'll be adding Google Accounts and Open ID but I can't woek out
their OAuth protocols - facebook and twitter were relatively
easy. You could just use twitter as a way to sign up for
Sailwave. This gets round security problems - I don’t need to do
https etc and it helps reduce spamming - as all activity on
Sailwave is traceable back to twitter/facebook/etc.
Do you have google accounts or OpenID accounts etc. Something that does federated login using OAuth. It’s so much more secure using these well established resources that DIY…
The web is going single-sign-on…

Colin,
Well done, I do remember the conversations.
Just a quick question - how can I contribute when I do not want or have a Facebook or Twitter login?
Kind regards,
Huw

However - it then asks for access to my profile, friends, etc, which I’m always reluctant to provide. I said `No’ to this request, still got in, was able to create classes.
But then there was no profile id against the classes which I created.

Colin,
I might have a google one I use for work, will have to have a look.
Is there anything you can do with a yahoo login. Presumably most people on the sailwave user group would have one of these?

Malcolm it’s only public domain information
Sailwave asks for - your facebook name and avatar. Nothing else.
This is freely available on the web already.
I can’t see any classes created by you or any login record created…

Will it be possible to allow venues etc to be associated with more than one login or change the login details? Being a control freak (to some extent) I do not share login info with others, but it would be useful to allow others to upload, edit and access the data on the site. I realise one option would be allow others to login by using an alternate type of account - I use twitter, someone else uses facebook…
Also, I accidentally created my login with the wrong twitter account (very easy honestly!) so it would be good to be able to change the details once logged in
As it happens we will need that at out club too and I've almost
finished a simple little system where by (for the owner of
something) an “Authors” button appears next to “Edit” buttons.
The Authors button allows you to make a list of other users that
can have write access. i.e. they will then see the Edit button
for that object (but not the Authors button).
Re twitter - yeah it's going to happen a lot - you'll end up with
two Sailwave accounts - which you may want - but it’s too easy to
do accidently. For now log into twitter with the real account you
want to use - log into sailwave - it’ll create a new user then
tell me the id of the new and old user - ill merge them by hand.
it's a problem with all websites trying to make life easy for the
user and do a one click social login - there is abslutely no way
to know iit’s the same user now logging in with a different
account or different social app.
