IQFOIL Scoring Groups and Heats

Have you scored an iQFOIL event using Sailwave?

At large regattas the iQFOIL class divides large fleets into groups for course racing, then further divides the groups into heats for sprint racing.

If there are 96 boards entered, they would race and be scored as follows.

For course racing they would sail in two groups and be scored similarly to ILCA Yellow / Blue. 1 through 48, letter scores 49 pts.

For sprint or slalom racing they divide each group of 48 boards into two heats of 24 boards. 1st place in each heat would be scored 1 point, 2nd place 3 points, 3rd place 5 points, etc, letter scores 49 pts.

Hi Mark,

Yes you can score iQFOiL with the standard Sailwave

2.30 was the first version to support the iQFOiL format with heats of 20

2.37 increased the size of the fleets supported to 40 so 24 is no problem

For the Slalom races if you enter a Weighting of 99.00 then this is a special case and Sailwave will score using the iQFOiL slalom system of double points etc

Give it a try its very simple and if you have any questions? Just let me know

Regards

Jon
