LINE HONOURS & HANDICAP RESULTS

Hello

I would like to be able to get a line honours result and handicap
result for the same race but seem unable to do both.

I have entered all results for 5 different starts and fleets through
the Wizard recording finish times for each competitor.

I have chosen to enter a overiding default rating for some boats and
by doing this I only seem to be able to get handicap results and not
line honours. Where am I going wrong? I need to be able to get line
honours points recorded as well as publish a seperate handicap result
with points.

Also I put in start times for each race and fleet but I have found
the start time when entering the result is not always correct.

Assistance would be appreciated.

We've regularily dislay line honours, two measurement divisions and a
performance handicap division.

The bad news is that you need to create a fleet for each, including
line honours. You can speed this up using the Import facility. The
line honours fleet will have a handicap of 1 - doen't matter what it
is only that each boat is the same.

Unfortunetly, this means you have to enter the finish times in each
fleet. In our case, this can mean up to four times.

You then score by fleet and you get all your divisions and a line
honours.

The start time (I think) gets set the first time you enter a result
in the fleet - I don't think that this gets picked up from the
individual race start times - these are for the HTML results pages.
Thereafter it uses that entered start time for that fleet. Not 100%
sure about that though.

Hi Helen,

Having scored the fleet using a rating system, you should be able to then
select a rating system of 'non' and rescore the series to get non-handicap
results.

I'll look at the start stuff.

To clarify, from 1.57 onwards, the sail number wizard and Edit+Result use
the start records start time and finishing type (Elapsed/Place/FinishTime)
to guess what the results for a particular boat will be. Only versions
prior to 1.57 look at existing results. It's much neater now and means that
you can enter a long string of sail numbers across N starts without worrying
if you have remembered to enter one results in each 'fleet'. If all bopats
sailed in the same way (even scross multiple starts), you don't need to use
start records - there is a default finish type field in Edit+ScoringSYstem
that's used as a backstop when there are no starts. This makes is very easy
to enter results and score a 'simple' series.
