List of Boats

Hi there,

I'm educating our various OODs into the benefits of using Sailwave.
Most can cope pretty easily with the scoring, etc, but the bit that
causes problems is entering boats - just because it's time consuming.
I appreciate that you can import boats from a previous race, but this
is a bit fiddly for the unitiated, especially in a handicap race
where you may have to pull information from various other
fleets/races.
It would be great if Sailwave maintained a database of all boats ever
entered into it and if these could be accessed from a drop down box
by class and number for any new race or series, or, better still,
entered into a race by something like the scoring wizard, where you
enter a sail number and the boat pops up. I reckon this would speed
up data entry enormously.
Any chance of something like this being included in future release?

I am setting up Sailwave for our club regatta this weekend and, to save time
entering all the venue data, have set up one multi-fleet series for the
dinghies and copied it for the cruisers, which only have one race.

I have successfully removed the fleets from the cruiser series but cannot
find a way of deleting the 2 unwanted races. Can anyone help?

Sorry, I have just found an old message asking the same question and have
finally spotted the 'Delete Race' option in the Edit menu. Doh!

Be aware that Sailwave does not allow you to delete a race untill you have
entered some results in one of the races. Therefore enter one result in
race one, go to edit menu and delete all the races and sailwave will
automatically add one race for you.

Many thanks for that, I think that is also part of the problem.

Hi David,

Yes, it's on the dev plan. The nearest you can get to it for now is to keep
a series aside containing all your competitors and import them as required.
Also, saving an existing series using File+SaveAs and then clearing all the
race results works well too.
