Long distance race scoring

I have to score a regatta (18 foot skiff) and the SI state that the
long distance race score twice the points of a normal race (i.e. the
first score 2 points, the second 4 point and so on).
Any idea to score as above with SW?

Hi Roberto,

If it's a single race then you can set up a points system like that. If
it's just one race out of N you'll need an untidier solution. How about
adding two races one for each 'half' of the LD race and adding the same
points in each, so first as 1,1 second has 2,2 etc - effectively giving you
what you want.

Dear Colin, I thank you so much for your quick answer.
Unfortunately I think your "untidier" solution is practically unusable
because of discard problem (in case of a regatta, or a series, with more
than one race of course).
I think the only clean way to solve this problem may be found allowing to
score a race of a series with a different scoring system than the default of
the series.

Hi Roberto,

I've just realised that the proper solution is race weighting, which is
already in the dev plan. The race weight would not go in the start record,
so it can be defined on a per start basis.

I'll bump it up the priority a bit - I have some tiodying of starts to do
anyway...
