We run a Handicap series over the first 12 weeks of the season - using
a standard Low Points Scoring system and Performance Handicaps based
on YV formula.
Given the length of the series, Skippers often choose to sail in
different classes over the series. Laser Full rig skippers may race
with a Radial sail for a couple of races, or if my kids want to
participate, I'll race in a Pacer rather than my Laser.
Scoring the individual races is no problem, but when scoring the
Series, skippers may have duplicate competitor entries in Sailwave,
depending on how many different classes they sailed. The result is
the total number of competitors for the series is incorrect, and
Skippers receive a DNC for one class when racing in the other.
Is there any way Sailwave can calculate the series summaries on
Skipper, regardless of the class sailed in each race ?
Is this what the ALIAS function is for ?
thanks,

I couldn't see the obvious.
I've setup the series without sail numbers or class details, as
these may change from race to race. I can then score each race
using SKIPPER as the search field for Sail Number Wizard.

Hi Dave, no the alias things just allows a ocmpetitor to inherit the results
of another competitor - i.e. essentially be an alian for him - this can be
useful when scoring more than one way in the same file.
The way to solve your problem at present is to use the race rating feature -
its a bit primitive but go into Edit+Result anof the tavs allows you to
override the default rating with one for that specific race.
Merging results across N entries of the same name is interesting but not
somehting in the pipeline...

Colin
