long series scoring

I have a regatta to score for the whole summer period
(Noordzeekampioenschap or shorter NZK see www.nzk.be)
My friends of the race committee decided that ties would be resolved
by the shortest race time for those competitors.
I'm aware that this is not textbook rule but as the sailing
instructions are already handed out, and the first 2 races are already
sailed i'm obliged to follow these instructions.
Is there a possibility for Sailwave to score on total elapsed time
(after rating calculation) to break ties in this way?

Many thanks

Danny Vyvey

Your e-mail does not reflect the SI's posted on the web.

"For the final ranking of the NZK, each major event will be considered as a series. The Low point scoring system Appendix A4 of RRS ISAF will apply without discard. A competitor who does not participate at least at one regatta of a major event will score for that event, the points of a DNC + 1 for an event taking into consideration the maximum entered number of yachts for one of the five major events. This changes rule A9. The major event with the worst score will be discarded."

Based upon the above you use Appendix A tie breaks

Your right for the SI's on the web, however this last week-end the
Oostende-Ramsgate and Ramsgate-Oostende races where sailed with the
sailing instructions for that particular event. These stated that
when 2 or more boats had equal points the boat with the best total
elapsed time would be scored best points and so on.
For the overall series these two races are combined as one race in
the total event. Why, i wouldnt know.

I guess that sailwave can't solve this for me and that i'll have to
score these results manual witch is not a big issue.
Evenso great program and very fun to work with.

Thanks
Danny

I think sailwave can solve the problem for you.

Look at combining the two races into a single race and then using that race to tie break.

Hi Danny,

I have a regatta to score for the whole summer period
(Noordzeekampioenschap or shorter NZK see www.nzk.be)
My friends of the race committee decided that ties would be resolved
by the shortest race time for those competitors.
I'm aware that this is not textbook rule but as the sailing

sailed i'm obliged to follow these instructions.
Is there a possibility for Sailwave to score on total elapsed time
(after rating calculation) to break ties in this way?

Many thanks

Danny Vyvey

I'm not sure I follow; are you talking about race ties or series ties? You
can create races in Sailwave such that the elapsed time for that race is an
accumulation of N other races so perhaps the answer is yes; I'm not sure...
