Is there a manual for Sailwave so that those new to the program can
learn how to use it effectively?

Short answer no. But it is in the development plan, like most individual
development undertakings the manual is the last thing to get done.
However if you look back through the archives of this Sailwave yahoo group
you will find a lot of information. Also I have found Sailwave to be the
easiest results program to get to grips with and all us users are willing to
offer help and advice to those starting out. So don't be afraid to ask.
There are some FAQs on the Sailwave web site.
Look forward to helping you become a satisfied user of Sailwave.

trouble with the calculation and display of corrected times. I
entered the elapsed time via the sailnumber approach, included the
PHRF numbers in the database, and selected to view the results via
Corrected Time. The results were the same with no calculation of
corrected time from the elapsed time. Any thoughts would be
appreciated. I will also check the archives (I guess they are in
the database of the user's group.

GHB,
Have you scored the series using the tools menu? The corrected times are
calculated as part of the series scoring process; they are not available on
the fly. Then when publishing results, to see corrected times, tick the box
to display race tables and then the appropriate columns that you require.
Or, as you have done chose to view the series summary as cells of corrected
times and publish that.

I have jjust about completed the last development that significantly changes

Not as it stand although a publishing overhaul is top priority after the
next public release to the web site and will include all sorts of
statistics.
However you can change the way the codes are displayed in the results to
include the points they represent. e.g. DNF(32)
How you get there depends on the version you're running.
Latest candidate release: Setup+SeriesOptions+Codes+EditCode+Format tab.
Earlier versiions: Edit+ScoringSystem+Codes+EditCode+Format tab.

If it makes a difference, I'm still using 1.57. It works great for what we
need. We plan to go to the then current version after this season or
earlier if our new novice scorer feels up to it.

That was already supposed to happen if you left the units off the race
distances but there was a bug that I've fixed in 1.65.
