We had a person taken to hospital in an ambulance last event because of a medical condition and the field/column is useful.
We have another event this week and I’m using the medical column again but these days of doing the results on a laptop and ppl walking over etc I think it would be nice if it was more private.
I’ve tweaked the column name to be * and started the medical description with "* " and made the column very narrow (so the data value is also just *) but it occurred to be that it would be nice if the medical tab could be passworded somehow… just a token really so that there are no accidents. Or even not passworded but protected with a big red warning that entering the tab will reveal private information and unless you are privvy to it do not click the button below kinda thing.

First, I hope the person is OK.
Very difficult one this. Personally I don’t put anything confidential in the field. I use it either as a flag or for common things like asthmatic, for other confidential details it is a note to see the appropriate paperwork. Generally it not the scorer at an event that needs this information. Generally the rescue boat crew need to be briefed on any necessary medical details of the competitors.

Would it not be better to use the medical field as a Yes\No flag and keep sensitive medical infromation in password protected file on the same laptop. The medical info file can then be accessed by authorised persons if there is a “Yes” flag in Sailwave.
While it would be nice to have all information in one place, putting any warning signes on field will only serve to higthen curiosity and I suspect would not even be fig leaf in terms of Data protection legislation.

Yes you’re both right - I was in event management mode (doing all the admin) but in reality that’s rare and sailwave is not an event management tool. I also forgot there was a medical flag column! I wondered why there was a checkbox - just used that now
