merging daily results into a season series

Hi,
Our frostbite series has 13-16 days of racing each winter. Each day
there are a variable number of racers that show up to race. The
season standings are calculated using the average score for the races
that each racer sctually competes in (A racer is not scored DNC for
races that he/she does not compete in). My plan is to score each day
separately, but I can't figure out how to merge the daily results
into a season file that will do what I want. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Scott Walker

I do it by taking a copy of the series file, deleting all the
existing races, then entering results for the day's racing. Then I
save it, with a new name of course. Now I can merge that day's races
and results into the two other series files that use those results.

The only PITA is that after merging in the new results, I have to
edit those merged Race properties again - the information on the race
itself is not carried over in the merge.

I'm having trouble making the "merge" work. What are the steps for doing this?
Thanks!

Makes sense... I'm having trouble just doing the initial merge,
though. What are the steps for doing this?

In the summary series do you want to see a column for each race of each day or a column per day?

I may have missed the point (very likely) but why can't you just have
one series and score DNC as Average of (Sum of all races) and Overall
Series points as Average of non-discarded races (and set discards to 0
obviously)? This seems to work ok on 1.58beta.

Hi Scott,

Currently the way to have a summary series is to create a series for each short event and then after scoring them merge them into a further series summary file. There is a merge option to create a race using the final points of the merged series. You can then choose a series scoring method of average point for the summary series. This is an approximation of an average of all the races, which as Patrick pointed out can be done in a single series, but you then loose day results.

Colin J

Hi Patrick,

Yes I agree, that would work, but at the loss of the day results.
