Minor Issue with Version 2.00 Build 1

With 1.95 it was possible to open ore than one series at a time
and 'tile' both in one window - useful for moving data from one to the
other. With 2.00 this doesnot appear to work, a second Sailwave
Application opens for the second file, but is empty.

Is there a work-around for this?

Mark.

It has been suggested that this could be a memory problem however, I get
the same issue on my XP machine with 1.5Gb of Ram as well as the old
Windows ME machine at the club, so I don't think that it could be a
simple memory issue any thoughts?

Found some explanations from Colin.
With version 1.95, it happened that Sailwave crashed when two or more series files were opened at a time.
The only solution to avoid it was to change and open a new session.

Hi Mark,

Pre 2.00 versions used a Windows concept called Multipl Document
Interface (MDI) essentially there was one ‘instance’ of the program
running and you then opened various ‘threads’ within that instance -
each thread containing a series. The problem is that windows is
inherently not thread safe and it causes problems.

When you open a second series, now a completely new instance of
Sailwave is started - a completely independent entity from the last.
If you consider the way most apps work these days (MS office -
OpenOffice) they all gone down this route. It’s something we’ll have
to get used to - MDI is pretty much considered old fashioned now.

There is still scope for tiling as required but it’d need to be
something I add as opposed tot he natual avility of MDI.
