multiple scoring systems

Hi all,

I know I have been quite lately but I have been doing a lot of thinking
about simplificatications. I would like to reverse the decision on multiple
scoring systems - this was probably one generalisation too far - how many of
you actually make use of this feature? (not talkling about scoring rules
here but main scoring systems - I want the rules to go back to "fleets") but
its tricky with multiple scoring systems.

For those that do what if in Edit+ScoringSystem you could easily load a
predfined record. SO your procedure would be Edit+ScoringSystem, load
record, score, publish repeat again for next variation.

Regards,
Colin

I do not fully understand what you are proposing.

In the same file I do PY IRC and fleets, I have 15 starts.

Would this be affected?

No that would not be affected - when you hit the ScoringSystems button you see a list so you can experiment with low point and hight p[oint or rating and no rating etc w/o fiddling values. Thinking about taking that away so their is only one main scoring system and it’s associated rules (fleets) of course.

Hi Colin

My immediate thought (if my memory still works) is that in the early days, we could only score on one pre-determined field ie fleet (or all together)

The change to score on user defined fields was much more flexible.

Does I want the rules to go back to “fleets” mean that we lose the flexibility?

Don’t do enough scoring these days to comment on multiple scoring needs

OK. Just got a bit worried about google search for “sailwave” - was over 100k, now down to 30k but not sure if it means anything., Assumed it was too complicated for novices but could just be incorrect kneejerk reaction…

Hi,

I use multiple scoring systems to score the same series, one for
individual classes and then a modified handicap amongst all
participants throughout a travelling series.

Colin,

I think I use the multiple scoring systems. I have a sub-rule for the boats tagged as catamarans and for them I use SCHR not PN. This allows me to keep all the competitors in one file and use different rating systems in this case.

Kind regards,

Huw

Colin,

A use of multiple scoring systems would be to allow result calculations to be done on Personal Handicaps from the same set of results information. It would also become an option in the Ratings List tab of Scoring Systems. I envisage the addition of a competitor field holding a Personal Handicap rating value to facilitate this idea. This field could be populated manually initially but later when/if you are able to implement handicap analysis a la RYA YR2 method and/or others this field could be updated automatically if a flag is set.

I look forward to your thoughts.

Kind regards,

Huw
