Multiple starts

I'm having trouble figuring out how to enter multiple starts? Could
someone clue me in on how I input four starts--all boats are scored
using PHRF Time on Distance, but there are four fleets of boats that
compete using different starting times. Fleets are very small...in
some cases, there is only one starter.

Thanks...appreciate this is probably a very novice question, but am
only getting started using Sailwave.

The other difficulty I have is one of the fleets couldn't complete a
race because of time differences in starts, and I can't figure out how
to score that particular fleet...they were not DNF, nor DNC...there
just wasn't a race for that ONE fleet because of light airs, but all
of the other fleets completed that particular race. What do I input
to indicate that particular fleet didn't have the opportunity to sail
it. That fleet should not be penalized for a race they didn't have
the opportunity to sail and should be included in the scoring for
overall points for the Spring Series. Two boats that make up that
fleet competed in only four...yet the rest of the fleets did five
races.

Sylvia

Sylvia,

To add starts for a race you can do it one of two ways.

First method

right click in the race column header where it says R1, usually, then select edit race and create you starts.

Second method

When you use the Sail Number Wizard to enter results there is a button labelled edit race and by clicking this you bring up the same screen for entering starts as in method one.

Don’t worry abut there being a problem with one of the starts in a race Sailwave will handle it for you as long as you do not enter any results for boats on that start; they will get nothing allocated, it is as if the race never took place for that start in that race. If you want to record something you can add a note on the notes tab which is available in the edit race window discussed above.

So Sailwave will handle one fleet sailing a different number of races than others and score them based on the number of races they have sailed.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Huw

Thanks Huw...I did manage to figure out how to enter the four starts
that I needed by using the ADD and OR boxes. I entered the code OOD
and clicked the box that the race could be deleted for the one boat
that didn't have the opportunity to participate in that race. That
seems to work. All the other fleets had a race that counted. But
there was no-one else in that particular boat's fleet that raced...so
perhaps I did not need to enter a code.

If I don't want the scoring system to delete any of the races the
boats participate in, how do I enter that? Usually all races in a
series count--there are no throw outs, but I noticed when I did the
scoring that the column after Total, entitled NETT chose to not score
one of poorest finishes in a series for each participant. What does
the acronym NETT stand for?
