one thing we do at our club during an event is set
up a couple of useful web pages to rotate in a browser and plug it into
a TV for example, but it’s always a cufuffle.
i’ve formalised that concept in a ‘billboard’ facility in mySail. the
first facility in it in fact!
here’s an example:-
http://www.sailwave.com/mysail/index.php?page=billboard&handle=46
currently the rotation (random in fact) is fixed at 30 seconds, there
is no scrolling but this will change soon.
notice a message in red at the bottom - that happens if the owner of
the billboard has setup a newsflash for the event in question. any
existing billboards being displayed auto sync to it - it uses ajax to
get the pages and message. billboards also auto sync to changes in the
urls being displayed.
i intend mySail to evolve into a cross between social networking and
event menagement with a modern ajax user experience. see what there is
on the event editor for example - it’s all ajax based. think of the
front page as somehting like facebook for sailing and the myEvents
interface as your admin panels.
anyway, if you want to fiddle - sign up to mySail, create an event and
set up a billboard.
mySail may just become sailwave.com at some time. it is intended that
competitors can join too, track events and evter online etc.
