obviously online entry form design is a tricky
business - i’ve started with a very simple way of doing it. see
the “Entry” tab when changing an event’s settings.

What you *can't* do is specify particular boat fields per entry
category or particular role fields per role - they are always all
shown - and the user just ignores those not relevent - the entry
form for this ‘design’ then looking like this:-

you can get there by going to the test event - entries page and
clicking “add entry”.
entries are not saved yet - will do later this evening.
payment option then next.
while the above is very simple is does probably cover 90% of events.
