Negative PHRF Ratings

Help

Entering rating for a small race with some faster boats in SW 2.02.5.

When sorting the fleet by rating, the -ve numbers, entered as -10 say, sorts as if it was a 10 (clearly incorrect). When entered as - 10 it gets interprets only the first digit, so - 10 is a lower rating than -9 (correct), and lower than -99 (incorrect)! Based on that, I really assume the ToD calculation will be messed up.

HOW DO YOU ENTER NEGATIVE PHRF RATINGS??

Looking forward to any support ASAP. Call if able 216-513-2955, Harald

I must admit that I probably never considered -ve
PHRF ratings. I’ll look into it. For now you could add a constant to
all ratings to make them +ve I think, given the way it works.

PHRF results calculate correctly when a boat has a negative rating. If you have done everything else correctly the results should calculate correctly.

I have noticed the problem with the column sort function not accounting for the sign of the number when sorting, but it doesn’t cause a problem so I didn’t worry. see below

I had the same issue last fall, where in the listing of the racers, the negative does not get included in the sorting, so a -66 boat was getting listed with boats in the 60 range. BUT as Mark points out, the outcome is correct! It would be nice if the system could recognize negative numbers when it comes to being able to sort the groups in the prerace part of the game.

The TOD calculations work fine, see attached. The corrected time of boats with negative ratings is more than their elapsed time, and the corrected time of boats with positive ratings is less than their elapsed time.

I have not tested it on any other column, so would only be guessing if the same problem occurs on other columns. However, having a negative sail number sort correctly has not been a concern up until this point Smile emoticon

TOT phrf works fine too, as my club only does TOT rarely does TOD races.
