Many thanks for the new version and continued support.
Is there a way on the Sail Number Wizard to make the choice of radio buttons in the “Record Result As” sticky? e.g. when you’re busy recording the results the wizard remembers that you’re entering the finish time and not the place or elapse time.
It defaults to the type of entry that is applicable for the boat you are entering and the race number.
So select edit race either from the menu or right click the race and then specify the starts - it may simply be all competitors or you may have some one designs that are finishing by place and some handicap that are finishing by time, you can select elapsed or finish time
You can then copy the starts to all the other races.
So when you use the sailno wizard you should only have to change this if there is an exception.

Regarding the need to choose jsquery before scoredseparatematrix, it would be useful for newbies to the effects options to list jsquery first, and/or put note at header of scoredseparatematrix script reminding users that jsquery is required, and must be listed first

And you can see that when looking at the script in the script selector UI.
However - I agree something more is needed. For example it would be fairly easy to scan the scripts while loading looking for dependencies and warn if not loaded. Or auto load for the user. I did try writing the scripts so that they themselves loaded jQuery if is was not loaded but it was fragile across browsers.
As Huw says there is also a buglet that jQuery must be first not just before any dependent - which I need to fix.
Thinking about it I think I’ll just automate it somehow so users need not be aware cos it is a bit geeky.

William - I think Colin has answered it already - My only addition is that the Effects are listed in alphabetical order, as the jQuery is a lower case it comes at the end - if you rename the file to be +jQuery it would be at the top. Just an idea if it helps anyone in the meantime.

Automation is the most idiot proof method by far! Until then, I note what you say about the info already there, but a first line user instruction could help newbies that haven’t been aware of these conversations

Nice to know it is liked. Jon extended the competitor highlighting
to positions 2 & 3 very quickly for which I owe him a beer. The
colours of Blue & Red were chosen to match the frequently used
Yellow dot on sail plus yellow bibs for crew for overall leader
starting the day, Blue for 2nd overall and Red for 3rd overall.
The version which does the above colouring is not yet released but I
think Jon will be doing so very soon. You can highlight in yellow
the 1st place in each race using the effect available in the
Sailwave2-19-4 full release.
Kind regards,
Huw

NB: You could set the background colour of the flights using the same technique.
I’ve spoken to Jon a bit about targetting the text more accuractly; i.e. only the race columns in the case of 1,2,3 highlighting. But you can do it now by using the td class mechanism:-

Colin beat me to posting on this.
The HighlightWins.js effect that is included with the 2.19.4 version of Sailwave was written by Colin and it is nice as it is a very simple example of the power of the effects. However with the current version of Sailwave it works on the whole of the summary table. This means that if there is any text of 1.0 (or 2.0 or 3.0 if extended) then these cells will also get highlighted. To solve this there are 3 possibilities
Modify Sailwave to put a class in every results cell. The issue that I personally have with this is that it would increase the size of every results file produced by Sailwave significantly (as as percentage) even if the effects are not being used and from someone who uploads these files many many times on sometimes slow mobile data links I wanted to avoid this.
Make the changes as per Colin’s post when you are using this effect.
Use the following script - This is my personal prefered solution as it works with the existing Sailwave, is very simple to use and there is no increase in the size of normal Sailwave results files and only a small amount when using the effect. This script only applies the effect to the race columns of the summary table.
The script that is being used at the 29er Worlds can be downloaded from here and will work with 2.19.4
This effect also highlights discards where they are in positions 1-3 but only if the discards are in the default format of (3.0) so if you change the presentation of discards you will also need to change the script. Colours used for highlighting can be easily changed within the script.
Version 2.19.5 of Sailwave has additional info in the htm files that defines the table headers and table body. This means that with 2.19.5 onward the effect is only effective on the body using it on 2.19.4 the headers of the tables are also included but the likely hood of the headers having matching text in them is very low.
I’ve never had to write anything in javascript previously so its a new learning curve for me so there may be better ways of doing it (probably are). If you want to suggest improvements to the script please do - but I think it works fine.
