Hi SUG Linux Users,

Unfortunately, for me the 203bx series does not run on Linux under

WINE. When I try to open a series I get an exceptions error due to a
div by zero. Colin has been informed and given screen capture of
full exception message.

Both openSuSE 11.3 with WINE 1.3.19 and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS with same

wine release; not to surprising really

Kind regards,
Huw

Colin,

Just been going through the steps again that generated the exception

error window and I do not even get to open a Sailwave file. The
error comes up under the following two ways of going to open a
Sailwave file:

  • click tool bar button to open a recently used series; the

    error occurs immediately

  • click file on menu bar then click 'New series using standard

Sailwave pro-forma’, then select Appendix A.blw and the
    exception error window appears.
However, if I select from the File menu ‘New series’ I get a pretty
much empty grid except for 1-10 appearing in the Tally column.

    Kind regards,

    Huw

Colin,

Just gone a bit further with the grid I managed to open and when I

double-clicked a competitor cell to enter the details an exception
error window came up, same div by 0 reason, but haven’t checked if
all the other bits are identical.

Hi,

Thought I would have a look at this last night. So installed Ubuntu 11.04 in my VMWare workstation (V7.1 It didn’t want to install properly in V6.5 so had to upgrade) Installed Wine 1.3 and Sailwave 2.3 build 5. Trying to open any files gives a Divide by 0 exception. But you can create a new Series say 10 competitors and 3 races. However even doing a close of this series gives a Divide by 0 error. The confirmation box which should appear to confirm the close does not - The Divide by 0 appears to be in the displaying this box.

Tried to use Ollydbg to debug the the problem. OllyDbg V2.01 does not want to work under Wine. OllyDbg V1.1 although its listed as Gold un the WineHQ doesn’t work properly either, but does do some useful work. The error is generated by Wine’s USER32.DLL - presumably it is either a function that is not normally used or the parameters being passed are some that it does not like. However I wasn’t able to determine which function had been called which if Ollydbg was working properly I should be able to determine and have been able to examine the passed parameters. I’ll have a look again when I have a few minutes but just thought I would post my findings for anyone interested.
