New to Sailwave, Can I do this?

I'm fairly new to sailwave, and I've figured out the basics. For
simple one-design regattas it's a snap. But I'm trying to do
something a bit more complicated - I'll outline it below, and if
anybody can tell me how to accomplish it that would be great:

Our club has regular racing with JY-15s as the standard club boat. To
encourage participation we allow any reasonable sailboat to join the
fleet on the course. Only the JY's count for the series scoring, but
I'd like to keep an overall score of all participants as well. The
problem is that there are some competitors who'll sail a JY one week
and a Laser the next and I'd like to score the competitor, not the boat.

Is there a way to mark a competitor as fleet A for race 1 and as Fleet
B for race 2, then score by fleet and also by competitor regardless of
fleet?

Right now the only way I can figure out to do it is to have two
separate series and enter the results twice.

Thanks. BTW, if it can't be done, I'd appreciate knowing that as well
- it'll save me time trying to figure out something that's not solvable.

Mr. Swordfish

Was just looking at the prizes option in Sailwave. Thought this was
quite handy, then tried to use it.

Would have liked the following

1. To be able to give the winning club for an event a trophy (in our
case this is taken on the first three boats of every clubs finishing
position (added together) and the club with the lowest points wins the
series. Then when I realised I could not do this, I thought it would be
handy if I could simply input by Hand which is the winning club,
Unfortunately this only gave me the option to selct competitors.
2. To give a prize for the first boat over the line, (regardless of
handicap)
3. To give a prize for first in selected boat classes
4. To give a wooden spoon (for the boat that got into the most trouble)
5. Probably others one could dream up just to keep people in the bar

I merely thought it would be handy to publish these but can not do it in
current version without editing HTML.

Regards
Terry

Colin,

Slight issue with the above function.

If you override the column names the original column names are exported to the clipboard, not the overriding names.

Only a minor irritation really.

Regards,

Andy.

Just realised I am able to overtype drop down selection when entering
winner by hand.

Hi Mr. Swordwish.

I can't think of a way - I think you need one series and both comeptitors
twice or two series. Sailwave scores horizontall across the screen - that's
it! - you can relresent that line by a boat or a competitor but I don't
think either fit your model. You can also specificy race specific ratings
which and useful when allowing competitors to change boats in a handicap
fleet but again I don't think that works for you.

There again - I always get comfused by 'we score comeptitors not boats'
questions so maybe somebody else can see way forward...

Colin

Thanks, Colin. I'll just create another series and enter the results
twice.

The issue here is that a row (representing a boat or a competitor) is
either scored in it's entirety, or completely excluded from the series
score. What I'm looking for is to be able to set whether each result
(competitor/boat *and* race) is part of the series. That is, to set
the series inclusion at the cel level rather than the row level.

You might want to think about adding that capabiity - it seems I'm not
the only one asking for something like that. In the meantime, great
job with the software. Please take this as a suggestion, not a complaint.
