Hi there, new to SailWave and to handicaping in general, is it possible
(or even wise) to enter a separate B factor for the light wind races vs
the heavy wind races? it appears that i can enter only in one place
(in the Edit Scoring Systems page) and have it apply to the whole
series?
you can have wind indexed A and B factors (make
sure wind indexing is ticked in the UI window) - somebody asked for it
a few years ago but i cant remember who - perhaps they can help if they
see this - so yyesm at least one club does it…!

thanks, found it.
We
use wind indexed A and B factors for each race. You set up the A’s and
B’s by selecting Setup + Scoring Systems, then Edit your scoring system and
go to the Rating system tab. Select Use Wind Indexed Rating Values and
name your ranges. We use Light,Medium,Heavy. We always use 650 for
A (650 for default A and 650,650,650 for wind indexed A) and use 650, 550, and
480 for B (550 for default B and 650,550,480 for wind indexed B). Then
when you score each race, go to edit race and set up your starts. In each
start, you set the Wind Index to one of your range names (Light , Medium or Heavy)
and it all just works from there.
I
know some club’s always use a single A and B value, but we’re happy
with what we use and I think it’s pretty common.
