Preparing for an upcoming series which has to be done on skipper handicaps - I re-scored a recent series using NHC club internal mode so as to get an input set of ratings for the next series.
The final ratings show the leading boats getting improved ratings (e.g. a Fireball starting on 975 ending on 1267) whereas the tailenders get worse ratings.
Reason? (If I use these numbers I will sure to be asked why)
Could it be that the previous series was scored originally on ver 2.8.5?

The easy answer first - No it would make no difference which version it had been previous.
As to why the ratings changed as they did - I can’t say without seeing the file. If you have Excel then you can switch it to external debug mode and see all the workings. If you don’t have access to Excel if you send me the file I could run it through the external mode for you and send you the sheets for each race - assuming its not 100’s of races!!

The numbers in NHC are reciprocalsand the handicap of the fireball you fed in is a PY so faster is lower, whereas NHC faster is bigger number. There is supposedly a PY conversion column in one of the excel sheets in NHC debug mode.

I’ve just completed modifying the SWNHC3.xls file to do the same thing for our club racing, to calculate personal handicaps; hopefully it is self-explanatory. It uses the same method as used on the RYA PYS website. Just replace the existing SWNHC3.xls with it and use the RYA NHC rating system with the Club mode Ext/Debug to score the series. You will need to download the revised version of Sailwave Helper below, otherwise it will try to convert the revised PY’s to TCF when they are reloaded in to the Sailwave file. One other point to note is un-tick the Auto set competitor ratings option on the rating system tab before rescoring.
