NHC Question

For a series that started with 3 races last October, scored under NHC - if further races are sailed now, races have to be added to that series. But in the mean time, skipper ratings have changed from what SW calculated after the (previous) last race.

Will the `use this rating' facility function correctly for scoring this series?

Hi Malcom,

I’m not quite sure I understand your question completely.

NHC is just a method of changing the ratings for the next race based on the current race. All the results calculations are basically standard Sailwave. Once a file has the ratings calculated even a previous earlier version of Sailwave could calculate the results.

Jon,

After race 3, SW / NHC has calculated ratings for race 4. But now I want to use other ratings for race 4 (coming from more recent series). If I plug in these values ( via Edit Result / Rating - race rating for race 4) , put in times for races 4, 6 and re-score, will SW produce the expected results? Should do, but just want to confirm.

Hi Malcom,

So what you are saying is that you want to over-ride the ratings used for race 4. This is not going to work because when you do a Score/rescore all the races are recalculated and hence the values would get overwritten. What you are attempting to do would not be conforming with the NHC specification.

If that is really what you want to do then I think the only way would be to have 2 series and merge them at the end or run it in External / Debug mode using Excel and fiddling the ratings for Race 4
