NHC results - not working correctly??

Hi All,

I have an issue with sailwave not quite correctly calculating our results that hopefully someone can help me with.

I have attached the sailwave file and the excel spreadsheet used for the handicap calculations. We use the NHC option and custom external so when I rescore the series it opens up excel loads the info into the sheet from sailwave and makes the race and handicap adjustment caluclations then loads it back into sailwave. At our club we scroe by fleet as we have a mix of different boats, Our fleets are Open A, Open B and Optimist.

The problem is that the results are working for the Open A group just fine. The corrected times are calculated and the handicap adjustments made correctly and this info is loaded back into sailwave no problem at all.

However when sailwave is doing the results for Open B and Optimist it dosen’t seem to be loading the results for the last race (Series 2 Race 4) in the series into the spreadsheet. This means that handicaps are not getting adjusted after race 3.

Hopefully I have just made a mistake somewhere in the scoring setup but I can’t find it.

Thanks
Simon

Hi Simon,

I will have a look later once back home as just about to travel

to rugby match, although not an expert in inner workings of
Sailwave & NHC. It may be Sunday though before I get back to
you. This reply sent at 09:20 GMT from here in UK.

Jon the author of the NHC functionality is travelling today

Saturday to Malta to score a regatta which is taking place Sunday
to Wednesday.I am sure he will also take a look as soon as he can.

Closest I got to New Plymouth several years ago was Taupo. I am

planning to visit NZ again soon and see other parts especially
South Island.

Kind regards,

Huw

Hi Simon,

A quick update. Just after I posted the previous reply I spoke

with Jon who was on his way to the airport. He did briefly have a
look at the files you sent and does confirm the problem is there
in later versions of Sailwave as well which have not been
generally available. Unfortunately in the time available before he
had to leave to travel to the airport this morning he was unable
to spot anything obvious. He will look in more detail as soon as
he can.

Kind regards,

Huw

Thanks Huw, will look foward to the answer.

Hi Simon,

I’ve spent quite a few hours looking at this and its going to take me a few more but I’ve run out of time for the holiday period.

It’s because it doesn’t like with NHC fleets the last fleet doing less races. As a quick work around if you change the Optimist fleet to " Optimist" so that there is a space in front it gets sorted to the top and it all works. Let me know if you agree.

I’ll continue to look at it later but at least you will have a work around.

Jon
