I very much support this request. The previous response was that you can see the next handicap in the next race, but personally I don’t want to publish the next race. We display our results projected onto a big screen and one page with all the relevant information is preferable. Also I’m not sure what happens at the end of a series - there is no next race, but people are even keener to know their handicap for the next series.

I’ve installed both release and beta versions on two Windows 7 machines with no problems, but on trying to install on a 6 month old laptop that’s been upgraded with Windows 8.1, the program is crashing as soon as it opens, saying “Sailing Scoring Spftware has stopped working, A problem caused the program to stop working…… Windows will close the program”.
I’ve reinstalled the release version, then the latest beta which should update all files. I’ve also taken all the Windows latest updates, and re-booted.
Any ideas please?
Thanks for any help.

Yes - create a new column, named re-Align and the rating at the end of the series will be added there.
Jon posted this link to a video a while back on how to do it:

I followed the guidelines but it did not work. The new column was not populated!
Richard Hopper
I also tried to add this column - I didn’t get blanks, but did get some numbers nothing like the handicap to be used in the next race, so it’s not what I’m looking for. The numbers for a non-NHC fleet where there isn’t realignment seem unrelated to the handicaps, so I can’t use this field to populate the results for non-NHC fleets.
I would therefore request further consideration is given to enabling the addition of next race handicap onto this race’s results page. For TCF and IRC ratings etc this will of course be equal to the handicap used for this race unless over-ridden. It’s for the NHC fleet I particularly want to be able to display this.

I believe that all boats being scored should be under NHC and only a single fleet.
Could this perhaps be your problem? Try deleting all other boats and fleets (in a copy test file) and try again?

Thanks for the idea, and I expect that what you’re suggesting would work, but I’m successfully using aliases at the moment to get three sets of results in one go - NHC, IRC, and results using a fixed handicap derived from last year’s NHC handicap. I agree that what you’re saying should work, but I’ll need to re-enter the race results which I don’t want to do, and indeed Sailwave is designed not to need to do this.

Save a copy of your working file under another name and use that to try my suggestion, then you won't have to re-enter race results.

Hi All,
Sorry bit slow in responding. My Main PC has experienced a complete Hard disk Failure. So I have been and still are busy trying to rebuild it from backups.
OK The rules for 2013 and 2014 NHC are different.
With 2014 NHC there is no realign as it is done after each race.
The 2014 NHC and the later versions of 2013 NHC support multiple NHC fleets (Just the original 2013 NHC only supported a single NHC fleet)
Currently the only way to publish the ratings for the next race is to publish the next race - There won’t be any results obviously but it can publish a list of ratings against the competitors. I will look into the possibility of having a column generated with the next race ratings that can be published in the series results.
Certainly for 2013 NHC you can publish the re-aligned but this is no longer applicable with the replacement NHC 2014
At the end of the series there always has to be a blank (extra) race as this will hold the ratings for the next series - Sailwave will warn you if you don’t have one.
To start a new series copy the Sailwave blw file then with the copy delete all the races except the last unraced race which holds the new ratings in it, such that this race then becomes race 1.
Note for 2014 NHC the Competitor rating field holds the NHC base rating for that competitor and the starting rating for that series goes into Race 1 rating
Hope this clarifies a few points
Regards
Jon

Hi Alan,
As promised - I just did an install of the latest Beta on a Windows 8.1 laptop - All worked fine.
When you say it crashes is this during the install or when you run Sailwave. If its when you run Sailwave. Do you have TeamViewer installed as this can crash Sailwave (and many other programs including Microsoft programs) but there is a fix for it see my post 12th July 2013. Its not a Sailwave issue - its really a Teamviewer issue.

Hi Jon
Thanks very much once again - it was a crash when running, and I did indeed have TeamViewer installed, and the fix in your post of 12th July 2013 has fixed it.
I’m very grateful for your help.
