Jon Eskdale described a reasonably elegant way of doing this. You will have an n+1th (dummy) race column. the NHC calculations require this. make a copy of the SW file; delete the n races that were there, leaving only the dummy race, now add however many races the new series requires. the ratings are now there for the first race, and you are ready to start.
